"Ok - I lived with two girls in Wolverhampton who ate this every morning before we went to work. I never got into in, nor veggiemite, which is also big in the UK but from South Africa.
Traditionally, Chef, they put it on toast. Maybe some strong cheddar and the torch?

"maybe you could try making your own fermented yeast extract and flavour it from the start.
Just a thought."

"We made a fairly successful marmite consomme today. Everyone in the kitchen had the same comment that it looked and smelled like chicken or beef base. So we simmered some marmite with mirepoix, a bouquet garni, and some egg whites. The consomme was meaty and still tasted like marmite, without that really strong, salty flavour.

We also found that marmite's aromatic properties were very similar to chocolate, which means next we have to try the marmite-chocolate cake."

"Britain was biult on Marmite! Marmite toast soldiers were a daily item on the menu in my and many, many homes in Britain with young children. I often add it to my red meat casseroles and gravies.
Interesting about the origins of Vegemite - I had always thought that it originated in Australia.
Best of luck with your experimenting!"

"You all have to watch an episode of Vicar of Dibley where Ms. Cruppley (the village's gourmet with weird receipes) makes a brown cake for a celebration (I forget what) and the vicar played by Dawn French says... ooh, chocolate! And Ms. Cruppley, with a proud smile, answers... no, Marmite!!!
The funniest show ever! I forget what's the name of the episode, but it's in the 1st Season."
