Michael "Ok - I lived with two girls in Wolverhampton who ate this every morning before we went to work. I never got into in, nor veggiemite, which is also big in the UK but from South Africa. Erin C. "maybe you could try making your own fermented yeast extract and flavour it from the start. chef e "I LOVE MARMITE!!!! Don't listen to these heathens... Marmite is the nectar of the gods!!!!" Andrea "We made a fairly successful marmite consomme today. Everyone in the kitchen had the same comment that it looked and smelled like chicken or beef base. So we simmered some marmite with mirepoix, a bouquet garni, and some egg whites. The consomme was meaty and still tasted like marmite, without that really strong, salty flavour. Marc Lepine "Britain was biult on Marmite! Marmite toast soldiers were a daily item on the menu in my and many, many homes in Britain with young children. I often add it to my red meat casseroles and gravies. annie Pottle "No need to experiment, this war time favorite still tastes great as is!" SB "You all have to watch an episode of Vicar of Dibley where Ms. Cruppley (the village's gourmet with weird receipes) makes a brown cake for a celebration (I forget what) and the vicar played by Dawn French says... ooh, chocolate! And Ms. Cruppley, with a proud smile, answers... no, Marmite!!! Luc Add a comment
